Entity Understanding

Entity Understanding comes from things like relationships in a knowledge graph; relationships in a knowledge graph can be weak or strong, and can be direct or indirect. EX: Pizza is related to hamburgers, because they are both common fast-food, even if they include different ingredients – a weak relationship. But flour has a stronger relationship to bread, because flour is often a primary ingredient in bread – a stronger relationship. Entity Understanding helps Google anticipate the intent of a query, and respond accordingly. It also helps them create chains of potential next questions, or more detailed versions of a query, such as you might see in a People Also Ask (PAA) result.
