Web Fonts are font libraries that are hosted on the web for anyone to use. They can be loaded on to a website by referencing the font files from the page code. Web fonts often load many different file type and font formatting variations that are not necessary, and this can be a detriment to page speed. If you use fonts, in addition to limiting the number of font files that are loaded to only the ones that are used on the page, it is important to either cache them on your server, and load them from there, or pre-fetch the font files from the web host when they are being pulled into a page.
