The App Datalyzer: App Rank Tracking & ASO Tool

Getting Started

Functions of the App Datalyzer

With the MobileMoxie App Datalyzer, you can automatically track app store rankings in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Use the App Datalyzer as a tool to supplement your existing app store optimization (ASO) strategy by tracking your company’s native or progressive web application (PWA) rankings, or you can leverage the tool to monitor your competitors ASO strategy. Simply add your app and ASO keywords and let the App Datalyzer do the rest of the work! Here’s how you can get started!

Add a new iOS or Google Play Store Application

Start by clicking App Datalyzer in the top navigation. Under the ‘Mobile Applications’ section on the left, click ‘Add Mobile Application.’ This will open a light box for you to enter your application details as shown below.

Here you’ll be asked to fill out three different fields with your application’s information. Add your App Name, your App ID, and select between the iOS or Google Play Stores.

Where can I find my app ID?

Apple iOS App Store

If you don’t already know your Apple App ID, it’s very easy to find!

Your App ID can be located in a string of text embedded within the URL for your app on its associated app store.

For example, if your app could be found at this URL:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/MobileMoxie/id438709449

Then your app ID would be the string of numbers following “id”, in this case “438709449“.

Google Play Store

Finding your app on the Google Play Store is just as easy as the iOS App Store.

Your App ID can be located in a string of text embedded within the URL for your app on its associated app store.

For example, if your app could be found at this URL:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ubercab&hl=en_US

Then your Google Play Store app ID would be the string following “?id=”, in this example it is “com.ubercab“.

Add Your App Keywords

In the App Keywords section, click the button that says ‘Add App Keywords.’ This will open a lightbox as shown in the image below.

Here you can add your keywords, the countries you’d like to test from, and the languages that you’d like to test in. You’ll also be asked to associate these fields with one or more apps that you input in the previous step. If you have many keywords that you would like to track, you can choose to upload them as a CSV by changing from ‘Add Single App Keyword’ mode to ‘Upload a CSV of App Keywords’ mode at the top of the lightbox.
Once, you’re done, click submit!

The App Category Tracking

In this section you can compare the top 10 apps side-by-side in tons of different categories in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can also compare category rankings from different countries which can be super useful for understanding app category competitiveness in different markets!

Seeing Your Tracked Apps

The Search Term List will provide a numeric overview of your latest app rankings for the app search queries you provided. Additionally, it will differentiate between Android and iOS-based app rankings and visually show changes in rankings over time. If you’d like to export these results, you can do that with the “Export to Google Sheet” or “Export to CSV” buttons below the table. The default tracking period is a weekly interval.

The App Keyword Tracker

If you prefer a more visual historical ranking representation, you can see this in your automatic app rankings graph at the bottom of the page. Easily add or remove the keywords you’d like to chart over time by selecting or unselecting them in the chart above by clicking their corresponding tick box, then selecting to add or remove them to the graph. This is great for comparing two competitive apps or seeing differences between iOS and Android rankings for the same app!
